Galactic Decentralized Web 3.0 Townhall SF

  • Starfish Mission 1535 Mission St San Francisco, CA 94103 (map)

Descriptions:

Come join the CTOs of four leading decentralized infrastructure projects, to have a sneak peak at the why’s and how’s of building the future Web 3.0 applications.

If you are a developer: come see live demos, and learn the SDKs that can build a future Instagram and WhatsApp without centralized services

If you are a blockchain enthusiast and investor: come talk to the founders of some of the most promising projects in this space.

If you like technology, decentralization, and hanging out with like-minded people, come join us too.

Background

Today, almost all application developers rely on centralized services for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stages of application development:

  1. Define business logic and user interactions unique to their application

  2. Choose infrastructure services such as file storage, database, CDN, etc

  3. Choose a platform to deploy the production system to

  4. Choose a name service for your web application.

These centralized services are not only costly, but also introduce single points of failure. Furthermore, in many cases, these centralized services bring about strong forces of censorship and control, depending on the jurisdiction that applies.

What if there was an ecosystem where you could focus entirely on the business logic and on building a great user experience, while the decentralized infrastructure could take care of the rest?

The four hosting projects here aim to just make that dream a reality, and show you how we can build modern Web 3.0 applications entirely using decentralized protocol stacks and unified SDK. We believe that infrastructure is a logistical inconvenience that should be taken for granted, so that developers can focus on building their software.

Speakers:

Neeraj Murarka: CTO of Bluzelle.

Neeraj is an engineer and computer systems architect with over 20 years experience, having worked for Google, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Lufthansa and Thales Avionics. His projects include development of modified Android OS’s for retail markets, multicast UDP satellite-based systems, and design and development of secure and FAA-approved systems for Airbus and Boeing. Neeraj was the fourth employee of an acquired blockchain startup called Zero Block.

Dr. Yilun Zhang: CTO of NKN.

Ph.D in physics at University of California San Diego. B.S. in physics at Peking University. Yilun has acquired over ten years of experience in high performance computing, distributed system, full stack engineering from backend service to web apps and mobile apps, and recently public blockchain development. Prior to NKN, Yilun has been the co-founder and CTO of two startups and has created live products served millions of users.

Jonas Simanavicius, CTO NOIA Network
Jonas co-founded Clouder after spending 3 years in J.P Morgan, working as an Associate Applications Developer. He previously worked as an Analyst at Royal Bank of Scotland. Jonas holds a 1st class Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from University of Edinburgh.

About the projects

  • Bluzelle: A decentralized database ecosystem that allows individuals and businesses to have full data control and the ability to monetize that data

  • NKN: a peer to peer networking protocol powered by sharing economy that enables individuals and carriers to trade unused bandwidth, and applications to send data directly to each other without centralized servers.

  • Noia Network: Network Of Internet Acceleration - a distributed content delivery layer (CDN) that utilizes a widely dispersed edge node network in order to increase Internet performance.

  • Portal Network: Portal Network aims to build decentralized domain name for the New Internet with surrounding platforms to improve both technical (KAIZEN) and non-technical (MUMEI) user adoption.
