Talk 1 – FOAM - Proof of Location Protocol

FOAM is an open Proof of Location protocol for decentralized, geospatial data markets. The protocol is designed to empower users to build a consensus-driven map of the world that can be trusted for every application. As technology evolves and changes, maps need to change too. FOAM secures physical space on the blockchain, harnessing the power of Ethereum with a cryptographic software utility token used to provide computational work and verification to the network.

Ryan John King, co-founder and CEO of FOAM, will walkthrough and demo the three elements of the protocol: the Crypto-Spatial Coordinate Location Encoding standard for smart contracts, the Spatial Index Visualizer, Token Curated Registries for points of interest and the type of consensus design needed for Proof of Location.

The Spatial Index is a visual blockchain explorer full stack react web-app built with purescript-web3, Haskell-web3, a REST API, mapbox-gl, Uber deck.gl with native Metamask and uPort support. It is deployed with our purely functional alternative to Truffle, Chanterelle.
